Quick Answer

Start by choosing one of four classes during character creation, each with two weapons. Focus on learning basic combat (dodge, block, attack combos) and exploring the starting area. The Demo offers about 2–3 hours of quest content including the hidden Throne of Hinnon dungeon and PvP channel experience.

ArcheAge Chronicles launches with four classes, each offering two weapons (eight total). Class choice affects your combat style, weapon options, and role in groups. The Demo lets you experience each class briefly — try them all before committing. No class is locked behind paywalls; all weapons are earnable through gameplay.

Basic Combat

Combat in ArcheAge Chronicles is action-based with real-time dodging, blocking, and attack combos. Learn to read enemy attack patterns — most bosses have telegraphed moves with clear wind-up animations. The dodge roll is your primary defensive tool; master its timing early. Blocking reduces damage but does not negate it entirely.

Practice dodge timing on small mobs before attempting the Throne of Hinnon dungeon.

Exploration Tips

Auroria is a large open world. Stick to marked quest paths early on, but do explore side areas for bonus loot and hidden interactions. The Demo includes regional servers for North America, Europe, and Asia — pick the one closest to you for lowest latency.
